Documenting The Rabbit Hole, 10 years later

“ro. of Joy Soul Media has played a key role in shaping The Rabbit Hole’s brand early on, using their photography and videography to effectively capture its essence. Their ability to understand a vision then execute it with precision makes them a valuable asset to any media project."

⁃ Lucas Ybarra // Co-founder of The Rabbit Hole (event / collective)

Ten years ago, I found myself documenting the early days of The Rabbit Hole, crafting micro-content videos that set the stage for their growing presence. Fast forward to their 10-year anniversary at Swan Dive in the Arts District of Las Vegas, and I found myself back behind the lens — only this time, with an entirely new perspective.

Originally, I came to the event with a simple intention: to test out my new Fujifilm X-T4. But as soon as I stepped into the energy of the night, it was clear that this wasn’t just about test shots. It was about capturing a decade of underground music, creative expression, and community without any expectation for the outcome.

The Gear: Precision & Atmosphere

For this shoot, I leaned on the Fujifilm X-T4, a camera that perfectly balances cinematic motion with sharp, moody stills. My lens selection reflected the duality of the night: the Fujinon 35mm f/1.4 brought an intimate, raw feel to close-ups, while the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 allowed for dynamic range — grabbing everything from wide crowd shots to the intricate details of the performers.

The Vibe: Music, Movement & Moments

From the pulsing beats to the subtle moments between artists and the crowd, I focused on capturing more than just imagery — I wanted to translate the feeling of the night into visuals. The Rabbit Hole has always been a space for artists to push boundaries, and this anniversary felt like a testament to that legacy.

Deliverables: More Than Just a Recap

This project resulted in a carefully curated photo series and a social media recap video, now live on Instagram. Each frame tells a story: the energy of the performers, the movement of the crowd, the underground essence that has kept The Rabbit Hole thriving for a decade. These aren’t just images; they’re an experience — a reflection of what it means to be there.

Why This Matters for Artists & Events

High-quality visual storytelling doesn’t just document an event — it amplifies it. Whether you're an artist, a music collective, or a brand that wants to create an unforgettable presence, the right photography and videography elevate the experience beyond the night itself.
